MOTORCYCLE
POLICY WORDINGS EXPLAINED
You should always read the policy document which spells out
what is and is not covered. The policy documents for motorcycle
insurance providers recommended by this site all have the
policy wording online which you should read.
The policy wordings will explain the different levels of
cover namely comprehensive and third party fire and theft
Comprehensive Cover
What is covered - this is a typical example of what is and
is not covered as stated in a specimin policy wording for
comprehensive cover:
Loss of, or damage to your motorcycle,
Pay for it to be repaired
Replace it
Pay you a cash amount equal to the loss or damage
If your motorcycle is less than 6 months old , and was bought
from new, it may be replaced with a new vehicle of the same
make and specification. Deduct an amount for wear, tear and loss of value. The
most paid is the market value of your motorcycle at the
time of the loss.
If you are paying for your motorcycle under a hire-purchase
or leasing agreement, claims may be paid to the owner described
in that agreement.
If your motorcycle cannot be ridden as a result of damage
insured under the policy, reasonable costs may be paid for:
Protecting the motorcycle and removing it to the nearest
repairers
Delivering the motorcycle back to your address in the British
Isles after the repairs have been carried out
Accident recovery
If your motorcycle is not safe to ride after an accident,
call us, and we arrange for someone to come out and help
you.
If your motorcycle cannot be made roadworthy within a reasonable
time, it may be taken to a repairer. This can usually be
one of your choice if this is nearer - although this may
lead to delays in arranging repairs to your motorcycle
Emergency Medical treatment
Most policies will reimburse any person using your motorcycle,
for emergency medical treatment payments they have to make
under the Road Traffic Acts.
Your liability to third parties
Most policies will pay any compensation costs and expenses
you may have to pay as a result of you being legally liable
for the following
death or bodily injury to anyone else for an unlimited
amount
damage to anyone else's property for up to £5 000
000 for any or all claims arising from any one incident
Most polices pay the following legal costs if they relate
to an incident under this section fees of solicitors
fees of legal representatives
Excesses
You pay an excess if your motorcycle is lost, stolen, or
damaged as shown in The summary of cover and excesses. If
your motorcycle is being ridden by anyone under 25 years
additional excesses may apply.

electrical or computer breakdowns, failures or breakages
